earthdancers Performance

Well, I did it. I took over 200 photos at the dress rehearsal. First time I used the Pentax K100D for this sort of thing. I wasn't sure how it was going to perform [or more like I wasn't sure how I was going to manage the camera] as it's still so new to me. I know for sure that I NEED a faster lens. I'm still at a loss though whether to look into a prime or a zoom.
Anyhoo, here's some of the best of the bunch. I'd appreciate any and all feedback!

These are great! I have a similar challenge next month with photos of my dd's dance recital with no flash allowed. I'd love to know what settings you used to get the action in low light!

I'm so jealous, and now appreciate even more how beautifull and dificult these are to get. Ugh! Yours are outstanding- lovely lovely work, Debb.

I think these are really gorgeous! I would be thrilled with these if I had taken them! Such difficult lighting...

Holy Cow. Just WOW. I couldn't imagine how you could get those shots in that type of lighting. Fantastic imo.

Thanks so much! I feel so much better now. After all the discussions about low-lighting, kit lenses, metering, exposure, etc. I really thought I was missing something. However, I guess the proof is in the pudding as they say. The final results are what matters. I know the studio director is going to love these!
Thanks again for the kind words.

I think you did a FAB job on these, low light is so hard to work with. YOU did a GREAT job at getting these, you should feel good about yourself and the new camera!-K
